A Custom House Clearing Agent (Customs Broker), formally known as a Customs Broker under the Customs Act 1962, is a licensed professional authorized to transact business with the Indian Customs on behalf of importers and exporters. Every shipment entering or leaving India must pass through customs clearance — a process that involves precise documentation, correct tariff classification, duty computation, and adherence to the Risk Management System (RMS) framework operated by CBIC.

The role of a Customs Broker goes far beyond filing a Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill. An experienced Customs Broker like ISLF manages the entire customs lifecycle: pre-arrival filing to gain early assessment, coordination of customs examination (First Check or Second Check), facilitation of duty payment through ICES/ICEGATE, liaison with the port or CFS for delivery order (DO) and out-of-charge, and post-clearance documentation including duty drawback and RoDTEP claims.

For import clearances, ISLF manages the complete process: Pre-Import Manifest (PIM) filing, Bill of Entry preparation and filing on ICEGATE, query response and assessment coordination with Appraising Officers, duty computation and payment, examination facilitation, out-of-charge and delivery coordination. We also handle complex procedures including SVB (Special Valuation Branch) orders for related-party imports, First Check and Second Check examinations, and sampling by Quality Control labs.

For export clearances, ISLF prepares and files Shipping Bills on ICEGATE, coordinates with customs for examination (where required), facilitates the Let Export Order (LEO), manages the SB003 declaration for RoDTEP, and ensures that ARE-1/ARE-3 forms are correctly executed for EOU, SEZ, and bonded warehouse exports. Our team also handles EP copy endorsement and EODC filing for EPCG and Advance Authorization exporters.
